Ascribed to John Bdenham, who probably projected the work and befrie nded the editor, the "A. B" (as yet unidentified) who signed the dedica tion and prefactory sonnet in the first edition. More recently ascribed to Nicholas Ling. Cf. Introd.; also Dict. nat. biog.
