"Granta's first incarnation was as a student magazine at Cambridge U niversity. It began in 1889 and published the early work of writers as various as E.M. Forster and A.A. Milne, Ted Hughes and Sylvia Plath. G ranta's second incarnation took it out of Cambridge and into the wider world. It began in 1979."
