Futher incentive is the presti ge of advanced technologies as well as such awards as the noble prize w hich go to leading scientific and academic figures in these countries o n an almost regular basis, with the concomitant assumption that brillia nce in research and teaching emanate almost exclusively from these coun tries. More important than the number of foreign students (data source is the latest UNESCO yearbook) surely is the answer to the question of how many scholarship-holders from abroad attain the study goals they se t out to achieve.
