Rainer Wener Fassbinder's film about Emmi, a widow portrayed by Brig itte Mira and foreign worker Ali (El Hedi Salem) recently captured the International critics' prize at the Cannes film festival (France). The coveted award was shared by the official entry of the Federal Republic of Germany with French film "lancelot du lac" by Robert Bresson. The re viwer of the Parisian daily LE MONDE ascribed to Fassbinder's love stor y "a maevelous sense of balance and genunie sensitiveness". The 28-year -old film director explained his 18th motion picture as follows: 'I thi nk all things involving prejudices are interesting film subjects. One c an examine whether they are really neccessary, whether they have a basi s in reallity. And a film can reveal one's own prejudices'.
