R. L. Antrobus has written the pages relating to Malta and Cyprus in v. 1, and has compiled a great part of the historical matter comprised in v. 3 and 4. The statistical parts of v. 2 have been written by Mr. Harris of the Colonial office, and the chapters relating to British Cen tral Africa and British East Africa have been mainly written by Mr. H.
